What would you do if a Jehovah’s Witness challenged you to prove the Trinity from the Bible? Could you explain why Jesus is Almighty God and not a created being?
My journey into Christian apologetics began in 1995 when a Jehovah’s Witness named Steve challenged my dad and me to study the Watchtower’s brochure, Should You Believe in the Trinity?
As we examined the brochure, I was surprised by the many quotations from religious scholars and historical sources that appeared to support the Watchtower’s claim that the Trinity was not taught in the Bible or by the earliest Christians.
Determined to investigate these claims, my dad and I visited university libraries to locate the original sources quoted in the brochure. What we discovered was shocking! Many of the quotations had been taken out of context or misrepresented to support the Watchtower’s arguments.
That research eventually became my book, Yes, You Should Believe in the Trinity!, a detailed, page-by-page response to the Watchtower’s brochure, complete with photocopied documentation so readers can examine the evidence for themselves.
But even more important than exposing the Watchtower’s misuse of historical sources was discovering the overwhelming biblical evidence that Jesus Christ is Almighty God, the Holy Spirit is a divine Person, and the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit comprise the one true God.
In this video, I share the story behind my book and explain how my conversations with Steve launched me into years of biblical research that ultimately shaped my ministry to Jehovah’s Witnesses.
