25 Years of Research… One Date That Changes Everything
Debunking 1914: A Critical Analysis of the Watchtower’s 607–1914 Chronology That Invented Christ’s Invisible Reign
If you’ve ever tried witnessing to a Jehovah’s Witness, you’ve probably discovered something frustrating.
No matter what subject you discuss—the Trinity, salvation by grace, the deity of Christ, even failed prophecies—the conversation almost always comes back to one thing…
“The Governing Body is Jehovah’s channel.”
So how do you help someone begin questioning that claim? After nearly 25 years of research and almost 30 years talking with Jehovah’s Witnesses, I’ve found that one date changes everything.

1914.
Most Christians don’t realize that nearly every unique Watchtower doctrine depends on this one year.
Why?
Because Jehovah’s Witnesses believe Jesus began ruling invisibly in 1914, that He inspected all religions shortly afterward and then chose the Watchtower as His one true organization in 1919.
If 1914 is true, their claim to authority stands. But if 1914 is wrong, their entire authority structure begins to collapse. That’s why I rarely begin by debating the Trinity or other doctrines. Instead, I ask simple questions.
“Does the Bible really teach that Jerusalem fell in 607 B.C.E.?”
“Why do historians, archaeologists, and even the Watchtower’s own sources acknowledge evidence for 587/586 B.C.E.?”
When people honestly examine the evidence, they begin asking questions they may have never considered before. That’s exactly why I wrote Debunking 1914: A Critical Analysis of the Watchtower’s 607–1914 Chronology That Invented Christ’s Invisible Reign.
My goal isn’t to win arguments.
It’s to help Christians lovingly guide Jehovah’s Witnesses to examine the foundation of what they’ve been taught. Because when confidence in an organization begins to crumble and people often become willing to listen to the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
